Foz do Iguaçu is located in the extreme west of the state of Paraná, on the border of Brazil with Argentina and Paraguay. The city is the tourist and economic center of Western Paraná and is one of the most important tourist destinations in Brazil.

 

With about 260 thousand inhabitants, Foz do Iguaçu is characterized by its cultural diversity. There are approximately 80 nationalities, with the most representative coming from Lebanon, China, and our neighbors, Paraguay and Argentina.

To enter Brazil, you must have a valid passport valid for more than six months from the date of entry into the country. For visitors from Mercosur countries, identity documents are accepted in addition to the passport. Delegates from countries that require a visa to enter Brazil are responsible for applying in advance at the Brazilian embassies or consulates in their respective countries.

Located 20 minutes from the venue of the 58th General Assembly of CIAT.

  • Take with you your identification documents, with personal contact information, blood type, if you have any diseases such as allergies, diabetes or others that require particular atention.

  • Before traveling, consult your doctor for an evaluation, especially if you have a pre-existing disease.
  • Avoid travelling in the presence of any acute infectious disease or if you have a fever.
  • Take the medicines you will need in the original packaging, with the respective medical prescriptions.
  • If you are a foreigner, consider taking out private international health insurance (it is not compulsory to enter Brazil).

CLIMATE: (14ºC to 30ºC) The climate in Foz do Iguaçu is irregular, with extremely hot days in summer and very cold in winter. In April, the temperatures are more pleasant.

CURRENCY: The shops and restaurants of Foz do Iguaçu only accept the Real as currency. We recommend exchanging currency in banks or official exchange offices.

In Ciudad del Este (Paraguay) and in Puerto Iguazú (Argentina) US dollar (US$), Real (R$) and local currencies are accepted.
